At the table with Lucie – Kitchen Hacks – Bread
The scent of fresh bread has shaped human history: a staple food has become a celebrated craft. As a daily meal, cultural heritage, or creative inspiration – hardly any other food embodies so much history and future potential. In Swabia, the Stietz family of millers preserves forgotten grain varieties and traditional milling techniques, while in the French Western Alps, bread is still baked in a historic wood-fired oven. Breadmaking is a craft that the ancient Egyptians perfected 6,000 years ago. Lucie Fischer-Chapalain showcases the diversity of breadmaking: she creates crispy bread chips, tempting bread pudding, and intensely aromatic yeast bread. From flour, water, and time, small works of art are born.
