In Swabia, the Stietz family of millers preserves forgotten grain varieties and traditional milling techniques, while in the French Western Alps, bread is still baked in a historic wood-fired oven. Breadmaking is a craft that the ancient Egyptians perfected 6,000 years ago. Lucie Fischer-Chapalain showcases the diversity of breadmaking: she creates crispy bread chips, tempting bread pudding, and intensely aromatic yeast bread. From flour, water, and time, small works of art are born.
