Once feared as the ‘love apple,’ today it is hard to imagine a kitchen without it: the tomato is a true all-rounder – whether as ketchup, sugo or cosmetics. With over 31,000 genes, the tomato even has more genetic information than humans. In Burgenland, Anette and Margarethe cultivate old tomato varieties, thereby preserving a piece of culinary cultural heritage. Presenter Lucie reveals two special tomato recipes: caramel-coated cherry tomatoes as sophisticated finger food and homemade ketchup without artificial additives.
