★ Crazy about the Sea - Discovering the world from the water

Crazy for the sea - discovering the world from the water Dad's second home

The small cruise ship drops anchor off King George Island to explore the "capital of Antarctica" on land. In addition to the flora and fauna, a scientific research station is also visited on the island. The "Arctowski" station is a year-round Polish research facility. Before setting off, expedition leader Ludger Feldmann gives the 337 passengers a briefing on the excursion with the Zodiacs. Crossing the ice-cold water is always a risk, so it is important to know everything that needs to be taken into account. The crossing to the island goes without a hitch and Ralph Morgenstern and his daughter Jadwiga soon spot the first swimming penguins.

A highly sensitive plant world awaits the passengers on the island. The lecturers endeavour to guide the tourists so that they neither come into contact with the flora nor get too close to the animals. In addition to nature, the research station is also visited. Lektor Manfred shows his daughter Lea around the premises, where he has lived for several months at a time since the 1980s. The 36-year-old is impressed. This is her first time in Antarctica and she remembers that her father was often absent on birthdays and public holidays. Meanwhile, Ralph Morgenstern and Jadwiga are in a selfie frenzy looking for penguins and completely forget about the return journey.
